Whether you’re downsizing, decluttering, or just done with some household items, you might wonder how to get rid of it? Donating can help you give back to the community at the same time as you get the stuff out of your home. So, we’ve created this local guide on where to donate items in Castro Valley. There are also some spots to sell or trash items too. Plus, we’ve included some stops that are in Hayward and San Leandro, just because there are plenty of great donation sites out there, and it’s not too far.

The Castro Valley Library is a hub of the community and supported by the Friends of the Castro Valley Library organization. After you donate a book it could end up on the library shelves. Don’t hesitate to donate new versions of classics, the library always needs to replace books that have been worn out. If your book isn’t needed by the library, then it will be sold in the bookstore run by the Friends of the Castro Valley Library organization. Most books are sold at only a dollar or two, to keep the store accessible to all members of the community while still generating funds to support the organization, including library programs, furnishings, equipment, and more books.
